Measure your dogs neck using a measuring tape where the collar usually sits.
Measure right around the body from behind the front legs, around the deepest part of your dog’s chest.
Measure from the base of the neck (where the collar would sit) to the base of the tail along the dogs back bone
Top Tip – If you do not have a measuring tape then try using a piece of string and then measure the string with a ruler.
Dog Collar Meauring Guide
General Pet Sizing Guide
To measure your dog’s collar, use a tape measure to measure the circumference of your dog’s neck. To ensure the collar isn’t too tight, you’ll need to add about one to three inches (depending upon your dog’s size) to this measurement to find the right fitting collar length for your pet.
Note: In addition to the length, the width of your dog’s collar is also important. A collar that is too wide for your dog may rub and cause discomfort, while a collar that is too narrow may not be comfortable when you walk your dog on a leash. Bigger, stronger dogs and dogs that tend to pull on the leash will require a wider collar or better and more cofrtable for them a dog harness.
Use the “two finger” rule. Once the dog’s collar is fastened, test and check that you can easily slide two fingers under the collar. When you slide the width of your two fingers between the collar and neck, the collar should feel snug, yet not tight. The collor is not to slide off your pets head.
After you have found the correct size collar for your dog, check periodically to ensure your dog’s collar is in good wear and fits correctly.
DOG HARNESS MEASURING GUIDE
Dog harnesses are measured by chest circumference. This is the widest part of your dog’s chest, usually just behind the front legs.
Some dog harnesses will require you to check the neck size. The size will need to be large enough to slip over your pet’s head comfortably and not too tight. Harnesses sit just below the neck on top of the shoulders – so should be slightly larger than the actual neck size.
Each product and brand varies. Please check the spacific measuremnts which are detaIled in the description part of the product page.
